Artist Statement
My artistic process is shaped by daily rituals and habits that move between lived experience and tangible materials. While I primarily work through lens-based processes, my practice is not bound to a single medium. Influenced by years as an athlete and coach, principles of discipline, repetition, control, and rhythm inform both how I work and how the work takes form. What often begins as an act of play gradually becomes a practice of return—through consistency, attention, and physical engagement—until images shift from observation to intention.
Rooted in coastal Louisiana, my work emerges from life on a working farm, the weight of heat and season, and the intimacy of tending land, animals, and family. I photograph and collect moments as a way of naming my connection to place when language feels insufficient. Details are isolated, enlarged, and held, allowing ordinary materials to become sites of quiet examination.
In recent years, motherhood has become central to my practice. My children enter the work not as subjects, but as presence; care becomes method, and the farm functions as both home and research space. The resulting images act as documents of time, labor, and attention—reflecting on the temporal nature of existence and the shared human experience of holding, sustaining, and being sustained.
