A family of four standing outdoors in a grassy field, smiling at the camera, with a barn and trees in the background.

We are the Graychecks - We delight in living simply, intentionally, and with joy and gratitude in our hearts.

We look forward to meeting you one day.

Our Story

Petite Anse Farm is a family-owned organic farm nestled on Bayou Petite Anse in New Iberia, La. We acquired the land in 2013 as a young couple seeking a dream. We experimented, succeeded and failed more times than we can count, but in all of our sustainable efforts and regenerative practices we landed on raising Irish Dexter cattle and growing a variety of sunflowers, zinnias and wildflowers in order to add joy into our lives. Since our first sale of sunshine in 2020 (and with much thanks to our farm friends supporting our mission) we have been able to spread smiles throughout our community, year after year.

The Experience

In the spring and fall we enjoy growing sunflowers and zinnias for farm friends! When flowers are in bloom (normally in April-May/Oct-Nov), we open up our gates for family-friendly you-pick experiences, educational field trip opportunities, and outdoor ticketed events that often include a date-night picnic and live music. As part of each farm experience, guests may create bouquets, fill large mason jars and/or 2 gallon buckets of farm fresh blooms. If the cows and donkeys are feeling social, guests may also feed them sunflowers and treat them to a good ole head scratch. It is our hope that each visitor will get to experience a bit of peace, slow down, walk the land and listen to its gentle song.

We have two main growing spots on the farm from which visitors may pick. Our front flower garden is where we grow and trial cut varieties of sunflowers, zinnias and other fillers. In our back pasture, we love to fill spirals and large swaths with open pollinator varieties of sunflowers to help attract and service our local bee population, provide a sea like feel of sunflowers for photography sessions, and nourish our livestock with a high protein treat once the blooms expire.

How to prepare for a You-Pick.

  • DescriptYou-PICK; How It Works

    1. Park in the gravel lot by the barn.

    2. Walk over to the Petite Anse Farm table (located in the first stall of the barn) with your personal bucket/vase. We’ll be here to welcome you!

    3. Once you pay and sign our waiver, you will receive a farm bucket. By using our jar/bucket, it helps us “measure” the amount of flowers you cut. We will fill your personal container with water for you while you are picking.

    4. You should have your own clippers/sharp scissors, but in the event you forget, you may trade in your car keys for a pair of farm clippers. (We only have a limited amount).

    5. Grab your water bottle and head out to the field for some fun!

    6. When you’re done, return to the table to transfer your flowers and return borrowed clippers.

    7. Enjoy your beauties! Please tag us @petiteansefarm with all of the lovely photographs and pictures you take of your arrangements. We love when new people discover us because of how happy you are with your experience.

  • Prepared packing!

    • Rubber boots/old tennis shoes. Closed-toe shoes preferred. We live in south Louisiana where the long grass grows. You never know what toad or legless critter will crawl over your feet. There is also a bit of uneven terrain, and some areas can be muddy. Better to be sure-footed than wish you had listened to our suggestions.

    • If picking flowers, bring a bucket or container (CLEAN). We will send you out into the flowers with a 2 gallon bucket or mason jar, depending on the season and availability. If it’s bucket season, after you’ve picked, you will need to transfer your beauties in order to take them home. We have water to fill up your own container, but please make sure your container is clean enough that you would drink water out of it.

    • Your own clippers or scissors. We do have extra clippers on hand, but will gladly exchange your keys for clippers as a deposit.

    • Water bottles. We often have water for sale, but it’s always better to save plastic and bring a reusable water bottle.

    • Hat/Sunscreen/BUG SPRAY. The sunflower field and patches are open to the sun. Please protect your skin. We do not use pesticides or herbicides, so you’ll encounter some sort of bug for sure.

    • Respect. You are visiting a farm on personal property. We work hard to take care of our animals and land. Please DO NOT allow children to climb fences, to chase, harass or tease our animals in any way, or purposely destroy our property. You will be asked to leave.

  • PLEASE DO NOT BRING:

    • Pets of any kind. If you have a service dog, please alert us ahead of time.

    • Children or adults with severe bee/wasp sting reactions (unless you have your own EpiPen). When you grow flowers, you have the most amazing pollinators! Typically the bees have no interest in us as we harvest our beauties. And though we have never been stung while harvesting, there is a chance it could happen.

Our Bucket System

Buckets are included in the price, however, to conserve plastic and reduce waste, most visitors borrow a bucket while picking and then transfer their flowers to a personal bucket, vase, or container to take home.

PRICING: We have set the value based on the amount of stems our jars/buckets hold.

It’s a first come first serve situation, until sold out. We will update on our social media pages when we have sold out.

$40 - 2 Gallon Bucket of Flowers - (bucket included)

Give yourself plenty of time. Picking a bucket of flowers takes a while! Expect to fit about 40 - 50 stems if done with care.

$25 - Mason Jar of Flowers
If you can’t stay long, but just need something quick to make you smile, this is perfect for you. Depending on the size of the stems, you can fit 10-20 blooms.

*Pricing is subject to change at any time. *Cash or venmo is preferred.

Pre-made Bouquets

When sunflowers are in season, we offer pre-ordered/pre-made bouquets. They may vary in price according to size and type. Please order 48 hours in advance through email at petiteansefarm@gmail.com or call 337.335.8012, and we can let you know what is available.
